Match Report Vs Leith Fab

Ok, few things learned after yesterday’s defeat, pre match advice only to be taken from players who back up their judgement with a performance (Should maybe have listened to Thomas and not David!!!!)

Another thing learned, you have to be good at two out of the three disciplines and maybe lucky with the third to win, we have yet to put such a performance together.

Yesterday I thought that bowling and fielding would have been our two main stays and courtesy of Lucas snr’s advice that Leith had lost the 3 previous games they batted first, I won the toss and stuck them in.

When Coops dropped one of their openers on 0, the omens were set in stone!

With a huge outfield we struggled to keep the runs down, despite some good slow bowling from Scotty, Coops & one of Petrie’s (can never tell which one) some ropey fielding & a number of dropped catches Leith posted a fairly imposing 243, so my initial hopes that our two consistent disciplines of our bowling and fielding would do us well were unfounded. Although special mention has to go to Thomas (aka Sharma) who bowled really well with no luck at all, he deserved much more yesterday.

So to the chase, we started well with one of the Petrie’s and Alan Timmins keeping up with the rate for the first 10 overs or so, this is where the surprise came, I thought that our batting would be the weakest of our three disciplines, but where we let ourselves down in our fielding, the boys stepped up to the plate with their batting, really good knocks from Alan T, Scotty, D Petrie, Thomas and Coops meant we batted our 40 overs and ended up scoring 197 in reply, if only I hadn’t chased a ridiculous wide one and got out for 13, we might have got a whole lot closer..................

So mixed feelings today, hopefully we soon click on all three of our disciplines

Could be worse, could have a 12 hour flight to get home................................
