Coaches & Officials

The season 2010 starts on Thursday 7th January at the Duloch Leisure Centre. The arrangement are that we will be using the School Hall from 7.15 till 9.15. There will be a charge of £3 for the 2 hour session. It is intended that all age groups should come together initially but that after a few weeks we will split coaching in order to cater for the needs of each player. We will guage the support for indoor nets, and we may split the groups into a 7.15 to 8.15 section and a 8.15 to 9.15 section. This will all depend on numbers and the wishes of parents and players. We look forward to a good turn out on the 7th and the beginning of a successful season.

Player Development
The club is the base of a pyramid system leading possibly to national selection.
From Under 11 age group onwards players are nominated for coaching with the Fife Junior Cricket Association. Fife JCA organises squads at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels.
Fife district play a series of matches throughout the summer against other counties.
Those showing ability at this level are then nominated for coaching with the Caledonia Academy. Trials take place in October and successful trialists take part in regular training sessions through the winter and early spring.
Caly' Academy competes with East and West academies in August. The next step is to National selection.
Under 10’s
This is designed for Boys and girls born after 1.9.99. Kwik Cricket is an introduction to cricket. It is using a soft ball and plastic bats and wickets. The boys and girls will probably have been exposed to Kwik Cricket during Primary School visits. A schools tournament is held at McKane Park in early June.
Fife JCA holds 4 tournaments per season with clubs from Fife invited. We also compete in 2 tournaments organised by Perth JCA.
There are also Invitational Tournaments run by various clubs throughout Scotland. Each match lasts 16 overs. Players bat for 2 overs. 5 runs are lost for every wicket lost. Some players may progress very quickly to Inter Cricket and hard ball forms of the game.
Under 11’s
This is designed for boys and girls born after 1.9.98.
Inter Cricket is a step up from Kwik Cricket. Although still a soft ball it has a longer wicket and the matches last longer. This year, some clubs will be trying to play several hard ball matches for Under 11s. There are always players who progress quickly and these fixtures will give an excellent introduction to the hard ball game.
Under 13’s
We play series of fixtures against local clubs from Fife, Clackmannan and Perth and Kinross. These are hard ball matches in which each club bats a maximum of 20 overs. To encourage participation batsmen retire at 20 runs and each bowler has a maximum of 3 overs. It is our aim to involve everyone in batting and bowling. We also participate in the Scottish Cup, a competition we won in 2004.
Under 15’s
We play series of fixtures against local clubs from Fife, Clackmannan and Perth and Kinross. These are hard ball matches in which each club bats a maximum of 20 overs. To encourage participation batsmen retire at 30 runs and each bowler has a maximum of 4 overs. It is our aim to involve everyone in batting and bowling. We also participate in the Scottish Cup.It is hoped to play some 30 over matches on Sunday mornings. During the summer holidays there may be opportunities to play longer matches.
Once players reach the age limit for the Under 15s we hope that they are equipped to play in adult matches both Friendly fixtures and East league matches.
